At Business & Enterprise North East we have a clear commitment to learning and sharing knowledge throughout the organisation and are dedicated to giving our people all the support, training and development opportunities they need to do their job well.

We know that when it comes to learning, everyone is different - we all have different levels of knowledge or experience and we all learn at different speeds and in different ways. Our development plans are therefore tailored to you.

We will begin to identify your needs right at the start of your recruitment, detailing areas for development during the interview and assessment process. You will be supported throughout your probationary period and as part of your induction you will agree with your Team Leader a personal development plan which will be reviewed formally at 3 and 6 months. Where applicable, you will be asked to complete an accredited qualification developed specifically to reinforce the competencies required by your role.

This commitment to clarity and feedback will continue throughout your employment with regular one to one meetings, in addition to the formal Performance and Development Review (PDR) process, so that you know exactly how you are progressing against individual, team and company objectives. We will encourage you to participate fully and engage with the development review process - it's your time to talk about yourself, your strengths and your career aspirations.

At Business & Enterprise North East learning is a continuous process of improvement rather than an occasional event. Our People Development Team work hard to meet your learning needs and provide create, effective opportunities to strengthen your skills. You will undertake formal training programmes where appropriate and our regular communication briefs and intranet site will enable you to enhance your business awareness and personal development. Your level of progress really is up to you.
